It has been a solid month so far. I have had a couple of minor hiccups I'd have liked not to have had to deal with, but I've bounced back. As I mentioned last month, I've faced some setbacks when it comes to corrupted files and writing deleting itself (accounting for a loss of about 6,000 words altogether). This is mostly because my laptop had been in shambles and the OneDrive software oftentimes swallowing its own and losing my backups.
Thankfully, I can say I now have a new(er) laptop that is a large-step up from what I had. That, and discarding of OneDrive and doubling-up on the tried-and-tested lots of flash-drives approach, I think I'll be able to put all this nonsense behind me.
As far as writing is concerned, I don't have the sexiest of updates right now, but things are going well!
I can offer a small increase for The Chosen Two, lifting it from 28% to 30%, only 3% shy of the goal I set for this month. If my part of The Chosen Two is a three-act play, I believe I can say I've officially started the second-act of the story. I haven't dug down too deep in it this month, because August until October were meant to be more about Spade, but I do intend to make significant progress before then. The current hope is I'll have a first-draft written of The Chosen Two by the end of December.
Spade has been my focus this month. And, after two weeks, it has lifted from 36% to 43% complete! That's a significant climb and it suggests I'm well on my way to competing all the goals I have for August.
I've decided to reevaluate and revamp the concept I had in mind for Mashers Club, setting aside time for development with hopes that it will lead to a better, more sustainable model. I want to be able to bring my writing to as wide an audience as I can, and I also want to be able to blend outside interests in a way that can both scratch that itch and advance my goals. I have hopes of revealing the new idea on September 1st.
