It has been a while since my last official update (since August!), a far-cry from the bi-weekly updates I had stuck to in prior month, so, as you can expect, I have a lot to unpack.
1.) Mashers Club
September 1st saw the debut of my new website - Mashers Club, and which will a main-haven for non-writing related content. I've created what I think is a very cool way of making all my different movie reviews and video-game reviews connect for a new continuity. Basically, a way to get more out of the reviews I've been writing (with reviews dating all the way back to 2012). I might also write columns and partake in a Podcast again later on, but, at the moment, my focus is on making certain the website is brimming with reviews and building The List.
2.) Mishmashers Elite & Free
I've talked about it before, but one of my ongoing goals is to create an online medium where all of my different projects can intermingle and be read. I'd reeled in the information I'm willing to share, because I want to make sure I can ensure the best service possible. However, currently, my mindset is that the service will exist on Mishmashers.com and not Mashers.Club. I would like to have a Premium service (ad-free and more user-friendly interface) where you can read novels like Katalene the Hollow and my upcoming projects for a monthly fee (the option to buy them on Amazon will still exist) and a Free service where you can read some of my older novels like The Red Flux, Blind Salvation, and Catherine: Forever with Love (it will have ads and other ways at justifying itself, however).
3.) My sixth novel (Lunacy's Dance)
I don't have an exact time-table ready to disclose for my sixth novel, but I know it will be my horror novel Lunacy's Dance. I am nearly 50,000 words into the novel and it will likely land in the neighborhood of 80-85,000 words when the smoke has settled. I am preoccupied with other projects, but I've since begin sending what I have out to beta-readers in hopes of receiving feedback on what they believe stands and doesn't. I feel like this is a novel that will need a proper foundation to build from and I would like feedback before I decide how I want to final act to resolve itself.
Lunacy's Dance will be the first project to premiere on the Mishmashers.com Elite service when the time arrives, likely at the start of 2019. It will be posted in increments and Premium subscribers will receive access before anyone else.
4.) My seventh novel (Roxwale: The Heir's Brother)
If you've followed along with my updates in the last few months, then, Roxwale: The Heir's Brother shouldn't look very familiar to you. This is because it's earlier name had been The Chosen Two and it was envisioned as a novel with Scott Moore. Instead of that, Scott and I have decided the novels will be blood-relatives, similar antagonists and branching off from the same idea, but are, other-wise, unconnected. My novel will be set in a world briefly mentioned in The Red Flux & the Wunderkind Thief called Olzaric, but is very distant, across a large Amisoic Seas, which isn't to say they're unconnected, but, like how The Red Flux and Katalene the Hollow are set in the same world, they can be read and appreciated individually as their own stories.
This means the original goal for The Chosen Two has largely increased, considering I'll be writing a full-length novel and not one-half of a collaboration. When I last talked about the novel in mid-August, I had been at 18,000 words, however, as of now, I'm at 35,000 words. The hope is that I'll have a finished first-draft by early next year.
5.) My eighth novel (The Canes III)
Not a lot has changed about The Canes since we last talked about the novel. I've been enamored with a lot of different projects, and so, I haven't dusted off the Doc. file for Canes III in a few months. I'll try to dedicate myself to writing Episode 2 of 6 for Vulpecula's story in December and continue to work on it thereafter. The current goal is to have it out late next year.
6.) My ninth, tenth, and eleventh novel (Spade, Marx, Salutations)
This hadn't been the original intent, but I can officially announce all six of all the novels I would like to make available in 2020 in some capacity. If nothing else, these are the next six projects I will be working on. On the bright side, they're all a part of one trilogy. This had originally been one novel, if you've followed with me - Spade. However, as I crossed the 50,000 word mark on Spade, I came to realize how much story I have to tell. Effectively, at 200 pages, I realized I hadn't even properly set the groundwork. As I've mentioned, the novel was meant to branch across three different stories - the story of Robert Spade and his relationship with Jeremy Crider, the story of Detective Marx and his aspirations to catch the Salutations Strangler and The Ashland Vulture, and, also, a story involving the Salutations Strangler and one of his victims.
The more I wrote for one character or wrote for another, the more muddied the waters became. So, instead of having a series of novels following several narrative strands, thereby, making each individual book feel under-cooked, I decided it'd be better if I provided each with their own self-contained novel that feeds to the same over-arching story.
I want to take my time with the three books, and so, I don't have an estimate for when they'll be finished. All I know is, it's my most ambitious journey yet.
I'll have more information once I've had a chance to figure things out for myself, but, like all my novels, it will eventually be available on Mishmashers Elite.
Thanks for being patient with me. I've been preoccupied lately, but I believe it all works toward achieving the best stories possible.
